Updated Weather Station Website Helping Land Managers Make Smarter Decisions
Primary producers and land managers across the Murraylands and Riverland now have faster access to local climate information following the redevelopment of the website for the region’s automatic weather station network.
The new site features an interactive map and grouped sub-networks, allowing users to retrieve weather data for the Riverland, Lower Murray and Mallee regions more efficiently.
Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board Sustainable Agriculture Facilitator Jeremy Nelson said the upgrade strengthens the network’s value to the region.
“The website upgrade ensures the network continues to provide free and reliable climate data to primary producers and other users,” Jeremy said.
“The new format helps users quickly view regional data and daily trends, supporting decisions across agriculture, land management and conservation activities.” he added.
The network provides logged and calculated data, including rainfall, soil temperature, humidity, wind speed and Delta-T, supporting decisions such as sowing, irrigation scheduling, spraying and harvest timing.
“Existing users of the old website should explore the sub-network view as a replacement for favourites or set up multiple tab views during the transition,” Jeremy said. “There will be a period where both the old and new websites are available, so users can familiarise themselves before the old site is switched off,” he added.
For more than 10 years, the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board has partnered with the Hills and Fleurieu, Limestone Coast and Northern and Yorke Landscape Boards to deliver a shared, publicly available weather information platform supporting climate-based decision making.
